A little care goes a long way. Here's how to keep your shade looking its best.

Your Fabric Works shade is made from real, natural materials — so it settles in and ages a little differently than something mass-produced. None of this takes much effort, but a few small habits will keep it looking great for years.

Fresh Out of the Box

• Fabric holds memory from how it was folded and shipped, so a few light creases when it first arrives are completely normal.
• Most wrinkles smooth out on their own within a few days of hanging.
• Want it looking crisp sooner? A gentle steam after installation will smooth things out quickly.

Letting the Pleats Settle In

• New pleats may fold a bit unevenly at first — that's normal, not a defect.
• Gently reshape the folds by hand as needed each time you raise the shade.
• With regular use, the fabric "breaks in" and starts falling into place on its own — you'll find yourself adjusting it less and less over time.

Keeping It Clean

• Vacuum periodically using a soft brush or upholstery attachment to lift dust before it settles in.
• For anything beyond routine dust, we recommend a professional textile cleaner rather than DIY methods.
• Avoid hand-washing or spot-treating at home — it can affect how the fabric holds its shape and color over time.

A Few Things to Avoid

• Direct, prolonged sun exposure can fade fabric over time — consider a light-filtering liner if your window gets strong afternoon sun.
• Don't cut, trim, or resew your shade yourself — this affects both the fit and your warranty coverage.
• Keep cords and lift mechanisms free of dust or debris so they continue operating smoothly.
